What is development intelligence?
Development intelligence is the translation of assessment data into prioritised, evidence-based actions — what to work on, in what order, and why. Data that does not change a decision is overhead, not insight.
Data is not the deliverable
Collecting more data about an athlete is not the same as knowing what to do with them. A dashboard of numbers still leaves the hardest question untouched: given everything we now know, what should this athlete work on next, and what should wait?
That question is where most assessment programmes quietly stall. The measurement happens, the report is filed, and training continues exactly as it would have anyway.
From measurement to priority
Development intelligence closes that gap by turning the profile into direction:
- Prioritised insights — not every gap matters equally; the ones that constrain the athlete most come first.
- Development priorities — a clear, ordered focus rather than an undifferentiated list of weaknesses.
- Evidence-based recommendations — grounded in sports science and the athlete's own data, not in convention.
What this changes for a coach
The value is decision support, not automation. The coach still coaches. What changes is that each training hour is aimed at what the evidence says will move this specific athlete forward — and that the reasoning can be explained to a parent, a technical director, or the athlete themselves.
The other three services
Athlete development is one system; these four services are how OnCourt covers it.
